About
Gallery 144 is a contemporary art gallery in Surry Hills, Sydney. The gallery presents an eclectic programme of emerging and established artists whose practices are fearless, distinctive and outward-looking. Its exhibitions champion urgent and visionary work, creating a platform for artists who reframe how we see and engage with the world. The gallery represents a select roster of artists and supports the long-term development of their practices.

Founded as Outsider Gallery in 2024 by Michael Pizzardello and Nik Ternezis, the gallery established a focus on close collaboration with artists, a dynamic exhibition programme, and an open, welcoming environment. It developed early interest in artists working beyond conventional pathways, as well as its position as a new and independent voice within Sydney’s art scene.
In 2026, the gallery rebranded as Gallery 144, marking the next chapter in its evolution and expanding its curatorial programme to encompass a broader range of art-making practices. The programme continues with a commitment to fostering the next generation of contemporary Australian artists, supporting ambitious practice and creative vision over the long term.
